Understand Your Treatment

We believe informed patients make better decisions. Learn about common procedures below.

Root Canal Treatment

A root canal removes infected pulp tissue inside a tooth to eliminate pain and save the tooth from extraction.

Your dentist will numb the area, open the tooth, clean and shape the canals, fill them with a biocompatible material, and seal the tooth. Most root canals are completed in 1–2 visits. A crown is usually recommended afterward to protect the tooth.

Dental Crowns & Post/Core

A crown covers and protects a damaged or weakened tooth. A post and core may be needed if there's insufficient tooth structure remaining.

The tooth is shaped to accept a crown, impressions are taken, and a temporary crown is placed while your permanent crown is made. At your next visit, the permanent crown is cemented in place. The whole process usually takes 2 visits.

Dental Extractions

An extraction is the removal of a tooth that cannot be saved. It is a routine procedure performed under local anaesthesia.

The area is thoroughly numbed before the tooth is loosened and removed. You may feel pressure but should not feel pain. After extraction, a blood clot forms — protecting this clot is essential for healing.

Dentures

Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth. They restore your smile, speech, and ability to chew.

The process involves several appointments for impressions, bite registration, and fitting. Complete dentures replace all teeth; partial dentures fill gaps among remaining teeth. Expect an adjustment period as your mouth adapts.

Scaling & Polishing

A professional cleaning to remove tartar (calculus) buildup that regular brushing cannot address, preventing gum disease.

Using specialized instruments, your dental hygienist removes deposits above and below the gumline, then polishes the teeth to remove stains. Recommended every 6 months, or more frequently if gum disease is present.

Tooth-Coloured Fillings

Composite resin fillings restore decayed or damaged teeth while matching the natural colour of your teeth.

The decayed portion is removed, the cavity is cleaned and shaped, and composite material is placed in layers, each hardened with a curing light. The result is a strong, natural-looking restoration completed in a single visit.

Post-Operative Instructions

Following these instructions helps you heal faster and reduces complications.

After an Extraction

  • Bite firmly on gauze for 30–45 minutes
  • Do not rinse, spit, or use a straw for 24 hours
  • Avoid smoking for at least 72 hours
  • Apply ice packs for the first 24 hours (20 min on/off)
  • Take prescribed medications as directed
  • Eat soft foods until comfortable
  • Call us if you experience severe pain after day 3

After Root Canal Treatment

  • Avoid chewing on the treated side until your crown is fitted
  • Some soreness is normal for a few days
  • Take pain relief as prescribed
  • Call us if pain worsens after 3 days or swelling develops
  • Return for your crown appointment promptly

After Crown Placement

  • Temporary crown: avoid sticky and hard foods
  • Permanent crown: mild sensitivity is normal for a few days
  • Continue brushing and flossing normally
  • Call us if the crown feels too high when biting
  • Avoid very hard foods for the first 24 hours

Denture Care

  • Remove dentures at night to let gums rest
  • Clean daily with a soft denture brush
  • Store in clean water or denture solution overnight
  • Never use hot water — it can warp the denture
  • Visit us yearly for denture fit checks

After Whitening

  • Avoid dark-coloured foods and drinks for 48 hours
  • No coffee, tea, red wine, or berries for 48 hours
  • Some tooth sensitivity is normal — it will subside
  • Use sensitive toothpaste if needed

Implant Aftercare

  • Apply ice packs for the first 48 hours
  • Rinse gently with warm salt water after 24 hours
  • Take all prescribed antibiotics and pain relief
  • Eat soft foods for 1–2 weeks
  • Avoid smoking — it significantly reduces implant success
  • Attend all follow-up appointments

"I was scared about getting my premolar tooth removed. The female dentist was patient — she said I wouldn't feel any pain, just pressure. The pressure I felt was 2/10. I highly recommend getting any dental procedure done here."
